Amsterdam, here we come!

Only one week to go until The Patent Litigation Europe summit takes place from January 19–21 in Amsterdam. We will once again be participating – this year as a Platinum Partner.

Two of our partners will be contributing to the program:

▶️ Daniel Hoppe will speak on: “Interplay Between UPC and National Litigation in the Life Sciences Sector” (January 21 | Afternoon Session | 14:30–15:20)

With the Unified Patent Court now fully operational, its influence on national litigation in major life sciences jurisdictions is becoming increasingly apparent. This session explores how UPC decisions interact with parallel proceedings in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. Drawing on recent cases such as BSH v. Electrolux and Fujifilm v. Kodak, the speakers will examine the scope of the UPC’s jurisdiction, divergences in substantive law, and the evolving balance between national and supranational enforcement mechanisms.

▶️ Carl-Alexander Dinges will present on: “The Role of Competition Authorities within the Litigation and Licensing Landscape” (January 20 | 10:00–10:45)

Competition authorities are taking on an increasingly prominent role in shaping SEP and FRAND disputes worldwide. This session explores how regulators—ranging from the European Commission to antitrust authorities in Brazil, India, and the United States—are influencing injunction practices, licensing behaviour, and overall litigation strategies. The panellists will address the political, economic, and consumer-protection considerations driving regulatory intervention and examine how these factors interact with court proceedings and ongoing regulatory developments.

Dr. Sarah Salaschek, Yasmine Azzaoui, Dr. Alexander Harguth, and Konstantin Schallmoser will also be attending the summit next week.

Let’s connect at the summit!
